I started touring at the start of 2025 after getting a helping hand to get started. I got myself a used splitboard to start, and by the end of the season had upgraded that whole setup for the end of the 2025 spring season and beyond. Meanwhile, I started learning how to ski throughout 2024-25 season, and made it out on a couple tours on ski's in the spring. I also have a new setup for skiing in 2025-26 season and beyond, after a mishap with a fall (no injury - ran out of skill), and a folding ski ended my last trip in 2025.

I decided to go back and document the days out as a record for myself, and maybe to help others that are learning and getting into the sport. It can feel scary sometimes, but it's maybe not as scary as you might think.

Finally, the weekend had come to get AST-1 avalanche training! I'm normally the type of person that likes to learn and do things myself, but in this aspect I wanted to put up the money to get proper avalanche training. I wanted to get some more testing in with my gear and try to get it more comfortable for me. I had heard Mt Seymour was a nice accessible place to skin up, and ride back down through the resort.
